Welcome

Victorian Hapkido Academy is a branch of the Hapkido International Association.

Hapkido International Association prides itself on presenting training in the highest quality traditional Korean martial arts technique in Australia. This is achieved by maintaining solid links with Korea through our founder, Grand Master Bermas (Jong Hyuk) Kim, 9th Dan Black Belt of the International Hapkido Federation, South Korea. We are affiliated with the Moo Moo Kwan Hapkido Association of Korea.

Grand Master Kim is a very active teacher, regularly traveling to our schools and clubs in Queensland, Victoria and Tasmania to mentor the HIA instructors who do not learn their self defence techniques from books or videos but from a real, traditional Hapkido master.

The head of the Victorian Hapkido Academy is Master Greg Walters (7 Dan) who has been studying hapkido under Master Bermas Kim for over 25 years. The head instructor is Scott Walters, a 5 dan instructor with 16 years Hapkido experience and over 20 years of martial arts experience.

The Victorian Hapkido Academy aims to bring Hapkido to as many people as possible across Victoria with the goal of training this traditional art in a way that teaches self defence through training in strikes, kicks, locks, throws and sparring without losing the traiditional focus on respect and mental discipline.
